Pride will not happen without YOU!

We are in need of some extra help for Pride weekend. Can you please volunteer some of your time?

We need volunteers between now and on the day of the Pride Celebration itself.

Help out during the weekend of the festival

Saturday, June 3rd

  • Set-up on Saturday
We need to set up the festival grounds. This involves decorating, hanging signs, marking off vendor spaces, and lots of other tasks!

Sunday, June 4th

One the day of the event, we need help with:

  • Gate / Greeters
Welcome people to festival, hand out wristbands and magazines.
  • Traffic marshals
These are the folks who staff barricades at intersections and control the flow of traffic around the parade.
  • Lead marchers
The front of our parade has both a rainbow arch and a lead banner, both of which need to be carried by volunteers.
  • Morning setup
There are always a million things we are trying to get done, setting up tents, sheparding vendors to spots, etc. (Sunday: From about 8 – 11am)
  • During the day on Sunday
During the festival and rally itself, we are always looking for folks willing to commit an hour or two to patrolling the festival grounds. This will help spell some of the Jersey Pride committee members who will by then desperately need a refreshment break.

Volunteers are needed now for the following:

Work on the magazine that we produce for the event.

This involves both writing articles, and spending some time during our production week proofreading articles, and helping with the layout of the magazine itself.

Get materials together for the event.

We keep supplies for the event at our office in Highland Park and in storage areas in central New Jersey. We need to inventory what we have, and to have it organized.

Help staff our fundraisers

Throughout the year there are fundraisers throughout the state. We can always use volunteers to help out with these.

Make phone calls.

Between now and the day of the event, we will need to contact vendors, parade participants, and a variety of folks with final information and the like.
